The PlayStation 5 is set to release during the holiday season of this year, but it's never too early to start looking at some of the games coming to the new console. While the list of official PS5 games is a bit small, we expect it to grow as we get closer to the launch date.

With so many exciting PS5 game rumors flying around, we can only hope for them to come true. But for now, let's focus on confirmed titles, such as these awesome games coming to the PS5.

1. Gothic

In 2001, Gothic was released for the PC. The fantasy RPG gained a cult following, and later got several sequels for Xbox 360, as well as the PS3 and PS4.

THQ Nordic recently announced that the first Gothic game is getting a remake set to appear on the PS5. If you don't know already, the original Gothic takes place during a war between humans and orcs, where you play as a nameless prisoner working in a penal colony to harvest magical ore. Although this colony is surrounded by an inescapable magical barrier, the convicts soon start to rebel.

Fortunately, THQ has said that this highly-anticipated remake will stay true to the original title.

2. Godfall

Godfall is coming to the PS5, as well as the Epic Games Store at some point towards the end of this year. It's published by Gearbox, the same developers of the Borderlands series, so it's not expected to disappoint.

If you're a fan of hack-and-slash games, you'll want to get your hands on Godfall as soon as it comes out. This melee-based game incorporates looting elements that make it resemble a mix of Dark Souls and Borderlands. In the Godfall universe, the Earth is separated by the Water, Air, Fire, and Spirit realms. You can choose from three character classes, and even team up with friends to complete quests.

3. Outriders

Outriders is a third-person shooter that prioritizes both story and combat. The game is set in Enoch, an alien planet that humans attempt to colonize. During the search for a strange signal, humans come across The Anomaly, a huge energy storm that completely changes Enoch and gives the colonizers superpowers.

When you start playing the game, you'll customize your own Outrider. The four character classes each have unique abilities to help you destroy enemies. Although this game has elements of a classic shooter, it also allows you to complete quests, modify gear, and fill in a skill tree, much like an RPG.

4. Gods and Monsters

Gods and Monsters was originally planned for release in February 2020, but this date has since been pushed back until later this year. Although it's coming to the Switch, Xbox One, and PS4, it will get an enhancement once it's released on the PS5.

This breathtaking game brings Greek mythology to life. You'll get to explore an open-world environment set on the Isle of the Blessed. It's up to you to save the gods from the wrath of Typhon. Along the way, you'll get to battle beasts like cyclops, hydras, and even gorgons.

5. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

We're definitely looking forward to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum's 2021 release. Like the title of the game implies, it follows Gollum's journey. Since the game will take place in the period between The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring, you'll see a more diabolical Gollum due to the effects of the One Ring. Just keep in mind that Gollum won't look anything like Andy Serkis in this game.

Will You Splurge on a PS5?

If these games don't make you want to buy a PS5, then I'm sure the games announced in the future will. So far, the lineup looks promising. Not to mention that it already features games for fans of shooters, looters, hack-and-slash, and open worlds.
