One of the most common tropes in anime is when the "power of friendship" turns the tide of battle. When a team is able to put their trust in one another, they can pull off some crazy battle victories through synchronized attacks and well-performed combinations.
Team battles in anime usually have greater intensity than duels between characters because they don't just feature the development of a single character but of a team as a whole. There's more depth to it because we get to see evolving character dynamics.
Whether it's a student squad who's forced together or a team that arises from a hard-headed rivalry, here are my picks for the best anime team fights and team battle scenes.
15. Gon, Killua, and Hisoka (Hunter X Hunter)
Wit beats talent and teamwork beats brute strength. That's the powerful theme of this particular scene from Hunter X Hunter, which features a collaborative effort that defeats Razor's overwhelming power.
Gon, Killua, and Hisoka each contribute fairly in utilizing their abilities. If even one of them fails at their role, they'll all die from a direct hit from the Gamemaster's ball—so trust in one another at this very moment is crucial, making this team battle an intense one.
14. Kuroko and Taiga (Kuroko's Basketball)
Kuroko's Basketball is a sports anime filled with awesome teams, including Kagami Taiga and Tetsuya Kuroko of Seirin's basketball team.
With Kuroko's perfect passes, steals, misdirections, and lack of court presence, in addition to Kagami's destructive and aggressive ball play, their team is always able to score baskets. Not to mention they have a three-pointer and an "uncrowned king" on their roster.
This scene features Kuroko's impressive Cyclone Pass that crosses the entire court with Kagami scoring a basket. It's one of the best fast-break moments in the entire series.
13. Revenge Counter (The Seven Deadly Sins)
The teamwork featured in this scene from The Seven Deadly Sins is unusual and risky, as the rest of the group hits and damages both Hendrickson and Meliodas with their abilities.
But that's just to prepare for a counterattack that can defeat any villain: the Revenge Counter. It's a unique collaboration between Holy Knights and the Seven Deadly Sins, with Meliodas sacrificing himself in the process to secure the victory.
12. U.A. Festival Cavalry Battle (My Hero Academia)
During the U.A. Sports Festival Arc, Izuku Midoriya earns the highest score in the game preceding this one, which turns the Cavalry Battle into an all-or-nothing shot for everyone: Team Midoriya's headband becomes worth millions of points, so everyone is after it now.
We get to see how every team has their own compatibility between their members' Quirks and how they each fight effectively, like Kirishima and Tetsutetsu who are perfect for defense because of their Hardening Quirks and Ida's fast movements for charging forward.
11. Demon Slayer Corps vs. Upper Moon Siblings (Demon Slayer)
The Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer features a one-of-a-kind battle between the Corps and the Demons of the district. Aside from the insane animation, the death toll and the Demon Slayers being badly wounded add tons of tension to the episodes.
Just when it looks like the Demons have won, Tanjiro and the others push themselves further and swing their blades, decapitating both Daki and Gyutaro. The Upper Moons, too, put up a good team fight against the Corps, cornering them to near-death situations.
10. Nobara and Itadori vs. Curse Brothers (Jujutsu Kaisen)
During one of their investigations, Megumi gets separated and has to fight a Special Grade Cursed Spirit on his own while Nobara and Yuji face off against two of the Curse Brothers.
Taking advantage of the Curse Technique, the duo manage to turn the tide of battle for them and don't hold back even though they end up being marked by an ability that will kill them if left unchecked.
9. Asta and Yami vs. Dante (Black Clover)
Dante is a devil-possessed mage of the Spade Kingdom who invades the headquarters of the Black Bulls and causes total destruction. This fight scene further explores Asta's devil as we see him show his grudge against Dante—or, rather, the devil of Dante.
The most badass part of this fight scene is when Yami throws his sword at Asta (who just lost his own swords). With the devil's arm, the katana turns into a more powerful blade that cuts Dante's body.
8. Kise-Aomine Perfect Copy (Kuroko's Basketball: Last Game)
Ryōta Kise has the ability to copy any player's move while Daiki Aomine has incredible and unpredictable gameplay. So, what happens when the two join forces? They become an unstoppable duo!
This moment features Daiki in his Zone Mode with Ryōta's Perfect Copy, cornering their opponent and rendering him unable to push forward. What's so satisfying about this scene is when we see the duo move synchronously as if there are two Aomine on the court.
7. Universe 7 vs. Jiren (Dragon Ball Super)
Goku, Frieza, and Android 17 from Universe 7 and Jiren from Universe 11 are the last remaining fighters on the battlefield during the final parts of the Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super.
Because Jiren possesses an immeasurable power level, the trio teams up to defeat their common enemy to ensure the survival of their home universe. What makes this team so extraordinary and fun to watch is that they were all enemies once, but now they're allies.
6. Naruto and Sasuke vs. Momoshiki (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations)
Naruto and Sasuke had a lot of badass moments throughout Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, but if you think their awesomeness ended with the Fourth Great Ninja War, think again! In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, we see a lot more of their tag team fights.
This one features their battle against Momoshiki, in which Naruto is abducted and the rest—including his son Boruto—come to save him. The team's movements are coordinated as if they can read each other's minds, showcasing the true power of teamwork.
5. Boogie Woogie (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo are supposed to be enemies during this school competition, but when the Special Grade Curses appear, it turns into a survival game where they need to work together.
Aoi trained Yuji on how to utilize his curse energy and use Black Flash, giving them an advantage in their battle against Hanami.
With Yuji's powerful punch and the unpredictable Boogie Woogie ability of Todo that swaps places of targets, they drive the Curse Spirit into a corner and force it to use her Domain Expansion.
4. Roger Pirates vs. Whitebeard Pirates (One Piece)
Former Emperor of the Sea Edward "Whitebeard" Newgate and the Pirate King Gol D. Roger aren't the main characters of the show, but they are some of the biggest names in the One Piece series.
In this flashback story, we see the monstrous captains clash with each other, flooding the atmosphere with their Conqueror's Haki. Indeed, they are terrifyingly strong during their prime!
This particular scene is just an introduction but already seems like the main event of their clash, which lasts three days and three nights.
3. Class 1-A vs. Vigilante Deku (My Hero Academia)
Class 1-A is comprised of aspiring heroes who have endured all kinds of hardships together during their time together at U.A. High School. From interschool competitions to villain invasions, they've fought their way to victory by relying on one another.
This time, they must work together to bring a dear classmate back from the brink: Izuku Midoriya. They want to fight with him despite the imminent danger that comes from All For One.
This scene is pretty awesome because it shows us the teamwork that exists between Class 1-A, who utilize their abilities to create combination moves. Plus, there are several tear-jerking yet heartwarming moments and conversations between the action sequences.
2. Curses vs. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Unlike most of the other scenes on this list, the team in this one involves several villains trying to take down one man. However, this man isn't an ordinary man. It's Satoru Gojo!
Even villains need to team up sometimes, especially when they're up against an overpowered one-man army like Satoru Gojo. This scene shows us the wild side of this badass sorcerer, who focuses on defeating the Curses despite the casualties it may cause.
1. Survey Corps vs. Eren Yeager (Attack on Titan)
They were once a tight-knit team who fought alongside each other, both inside and outside the Walls of Paradis. But destiny and fate twist all things, forcing them to fight someone who was once their own.
Eren, now in his Founding Titan form, flattens the land outside the walls using thousands of Colossal Titans. The Survey Corps, on the other hand, must team up with the Warriors from Marley to stop the Rumbling.
To make matters worse, Eren has a team of Special Titans on his back, which are all former Titan Shifters from different generations, which he can summon endlessly.
The last episode of this epic anime series has so many twists and turns, featuring a lot of heartbreaking drama and awesome fight scenes.
