whatNerd is a passion project for us. We all have full-time jobs elsewhere but we continue writing for whatNerd because we're geeks at heart, we love writing about the geeky things that interest us, and we want to share that with you.
That said, there are costs to running this website. We also want to expand our writing team in the future. In order to keep the site going and bring in new writers, we need to make some money.
And so we've partnered as an affiliate with several companies.
Whenever we recommend a product or service in an article, we seek out that company to see if there's an opportunity for partnership. Most of the time, there is! With an affiliate partnership, we earn a bit of commission whenever a reader clicks a link to a product or service and ends up buying that product or signing up for that service.
These links are called "affiliate links."
We feel it's important to note that we never promote a product or service simply because that company offers an affiliate program.
whatNerd only recommends products and services that we personally believe in. If we wouldn't use it ourselves or recommend it to our friends and family, we won't recommend it to you.
We always write our articles with our personal recommendations in mind, and then seek out affiliate opportunities for what we've recommended. If an affiliate opportunity doesn't exist, we'll still recommend it—just without an affiliate link.
Per our editorial policy, whatNerd strives to minimize undue bias and external influence in our articles. whatNerd strives for utmost transparency and authenticity in everything we write.

Affiliate links do not affect your browsing experience in any way.
You don't pay more for a product or service because you used an affiliate link. In fact, some of our affiliate links actually provide a discount or bonus if you go through and end up making a purchase. Such discounts and bonuses will be clearly marked wherever relevant.
Ultimately, affiliate links help keep our site alive, and it's one way you can support us.
Thank you for your support!
