If there's one thing video game developers seem to love, it's hiding Easter eggs in their games. Since the early days of the NES, developers have been rewarding vigilant players with some cool stuff.

Today, we're going to look at some of the coolest Easter eggs in the history of video games. Some are just small winks and nods to the players, and some are whole new levels in the game. Either way, they all deserve to be remembered!

12. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

No one likes Jar Jar Binks and it seems that the people behind The Force Unleashed are well aware of this fact. If you keep your eyes peeled, you'll actually find everyone's most hated character Frozen in carbonite. Byebye Jar Jar.

11. Saint's Row 2

As is always the case in Saint's Row games, they take things and crank them to 11. Rather than hiding an actual egg or a cute little bunny, Saint's Row decided to hide a giant bunny that you can actually kill in the game. Does the bunny lay Easter eggs? You'll have to find out!

10. NBA Jam: Tournament Edition

This is technically a cheat code, but it's close enough to an Easter egg. In NBA Jam: TE, there is a slew of cheat codes including ones that let you play as famous people like Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, or the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

9. Metal Gear Solid 3

This Easter egg requires a bit of time, but it's easily one of the coolest ones out there. In the fight against The End, if you save the game, quit, and come back a week later, you'll find that the sniper died of old age waiting for his shot on you!

8. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

All of the Grand Theft Auto games are a treasure of Easter eggs. My favorite comes from Vice City because it's literally an egg.

There's a certain building you can jump off that will have go through the window of a neighboring building. Once in there, you'll find a giant chocolate egg with "Happy Easter" written on it.

7. Fallout: New Vegas

In Fallout: New Vegas, there's a really cool Indiana Jones Easter egg hidden in the massive Las Vegas wasteland.

You'll stumble across a refrigerator, and in it you'll find a skeleton wearing a fedora. Looks like "nuking the fridge" didn't work as well as we all thought...

6. Doom 2

Have you ever wanted to fight one of the developers of Doom? Well, with this nifty Easter egg, you can shoot John Romero repeatedly.

To access the bonus boss fight, you just need to shoot the giant demon head boss with a rocket launcher to kill it, then enter the popular noclip cheat code.

5. Diablo 2

This is easily one of the most famous Easter eggs in the history of games—the iconic cow level in Diablo 2. The Easter egg came to be because of a rumor that there was a secret cow level in the first Diablo.

Blizzard decided to make the rumor a reality in the sequel. Turns out there is a cow level!

4. Dead Rising

Remember in Resident Evil when Barry told Jill that she almost became a Jill sandwich? Well, Capcom remembers, and it put a small reference to that iconic line in Dead Rising. Deep in the game's explorable mall is a restaurant called Jill's Sandwiches! It's simple but clever

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

This is a fantastic Easter egg because it's actually something you can play! In Nuketown 2025, if you shoot the heads off of the mannequins within 90 seconds, you unlock a playable Atari 2600 with a bunch of games you can play. It's game-ception!

2. Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 made all kinds of cultural references, and most of them were pretty obvious. However, this Minecraft reference was hidden!

There's a secret chamber tucked away in the Caustic Caverns where you can kill creepers, one of the most recognizable enemies from Minecraft. There are also some blocks you can smash to get some cool loot.

1. Assassin's Creed 3

This is one of those Easter eggs that doesn't change the game in any fundamental way. It's not a special, secret boss, but it's still awesome. Tucked away in the game is a turkey dressed up as an Assassin.

You simply need to feed the bird and then enter the world-famous Konami code to see it.
